December Training Workshop Summary

Our thanks go out to Susie Greene and Susan E. Keefe, PhD from Appalachian State University for presenting on the Southern Appalachian Culture and Mental Health. Those who were there got an overview of Southern Appalachian history, culture, and social organization. We also learned about the fundamental social importance of the core values of family, community, and women's roles. We ended with the relevance of these aspects of Southern Appalachian culture to mental health treatment — with particular emphasis on the role of the therapist. Renee' Evans did a wonderful job of coordinating this insightful workshop!

Ladies and Gentlemen-Start your engines! The March Conference is rapidly approaching and we don't want you to miss a minute.

Your 2008 March Conference Committee has been busy finalizing Speakers, Exhibitors, and Sponsors and I know you will be very pleased with the starting line up!

Box Of Generosity — You May Be A Winner!

As your EAPA-NC Outstanding Member of the Year for 2007, I have the privilege of coordinating the BOX OF GENEROSITY for the coming year. For those of you who have attended our Chapter trainings in the past, you know that the Box of Generosity contains all the names of EAPA-NC members plus the names of each registrant for each Chapter training. So the more often you attend a Chapter training, the greater your chance of winning VALUABLE PRIZES!

CONGRATULATIONS to our December Chapter Training Box of Generosity Winners: JEAN DONNAN won a paid registration to the EAPA/NC March Conference 2008 ($185 VALUE) and TESS LINEBACK won a one-year EAPA-NC membership ($40 VALUE).

BE SURE TO MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND PLAN TO ATTEND THE 2008 MARCH CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR 3/26-3/28/08 AT THE EMBASSY SUITES IN CONCORD, NC.

ALTHOUGH THERE WON'T BE PRIZES AWARDED FROM THE BOX OF GENEROSITY, THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF CHANCES TO WIN MANY OTHER PRIZES FROM OUR EXHIBITORS AND SPONSORS!

SEE YOU ALL IN MARCH!

Use PayPal to Register and Pay for March Conference

Many of you have used PayPal to register and pay for the past couple of chapter workshops, and now you can do that for the March conference as well. No forms to print out and then mail in...you can just fill out the registration information online and then use a credit card to pay. See info on the Conferences page.

However, if you still prefer to register the old fashioned way, you can print out the registration form and mail it along with a check to chapter treasurer, Dawn Klug, as directed.

In Case You Missed the Article that Ray Robbins sent through the Listserve:

Everyone:

This article appeared on msnbc.com today. It's interesting and dismaying that 40% of employees say they don't know anything about their mental health benefits/EAPs. EAPs are mentioned also.
